The mental act of sensation which issues in reflex movement is so simple as to defy analysis.
At my shows, I want to be totally sharp and focused on every single song, on every single thing that I do, and plus, I have to because I'm, like, caking someone and have to run back and mix the next song... and I have so much fast, quick reflex timing.
Maybe it's a cultural thing, being Korean, but my first reflex has always been to exude humility - but it doesn't help you in acting. For acting, humility isn't the best thing. It'll weaken your work.
From the viewpoint of political power, culture is absolutely vital. So vital, indeed, that power cannot operate without it. It is culture, in the sense of the everyday habits and beliefs of a people, which beds power down, makes it appear natural and inevitable, turns it into spontaneous reflex and response.
Bogs Diamond: Now, I'm gonna open my fly and you're gonna swallow what I give ya to swallow. And after you swallow mine you're gonna swallow Rooster's cause ya done broke his nose and I think he oughta have something to show for it. Andy Dufresne: Anything you put in my mouth you're gonna lose. Bogs Diamond: Naw, you don't understand. You do that and I'll put all eight inches of steel in
your ear. Andy Dufresne: All right. But you should know that sudden serious brain injury causes the victim to bite down hard. In fact, I hear the bite reflex is so strong they have to pry the victims jaws open with a crowbar. Bogs Diamond: Where do you get this shit? Andy Dufresne: I read it. You know how to read, you ignorant fuck?
Juno MacGuff: God, why is everyone always staring at me?
Leah: Well, you are kind of... convex.
Juno MacGuff: Wow, someone's been actually doing her geometry homework for once!
Leah: I don't have a choice. Keith's been grading me really hard lately.
Juno MacGuff: Please do not refer to
Mr. Conyers as "Keith," okay? My barf reflex is already heightened these days.
Bartender: [mixing "wake-up juice" after Doc passes out] Here. Stick this clothespin on his nose.
[giving Marty a funnel, which he puts in Doc's mouth]
Bartender: And when he opens up his mouth, go ahead and pour it on down his gullet. Oh, and stand back.
[Doc jerks awake; screaming and clutching his throat, he runs outside and dunks his head
into the horse trough]
Marty McFly: [pulling him out] He's still out!
Bartender: Oh, that? That was just a reflex action. It's gonna take a few more minutes for the stuff to really clear up his head.
[the Kent farm was repossessed, but Clark gets it back]
Clark Kent: "Thank you, Bruce" is not enough for what you did.
Bruce Wayne: I just undid a mistake, that's all.
Clark Kent: How did you get the house back from the bank?
Bruce Wayne: I bought the bank.
Clark Kent: The whole
bank?
Bruce Wayne: It's like a reflex with me, I don't know...
