Whenever I'm not working, I try to be in classes as much as I can.
I feel like eventually they're going to reboot the 'Blade' saga. I mean, hopefully, it's at an age where I'm a little bit older. But I want to play that, a strong black superhero.
I actually auditioned for 'Nashville' while shooting on another project located in Boston. I had a couple weeks off from shooting and decided to go back to L.A. While I was there, my manager suggested I go in for the role on 'Nashville.'
I don't know what it is about these post-apocalyptic movies where it's like... people really want to see what happens and know what goes on in people's minds when they lose everything. With nothing left of what we had, do people revert back to animals or stay civilized?
The main fear comes from playing a character that so many people know from the comic books, and there's a long history of people unhappy with movies and TV shows who make alterations to comic book characters.
I went to New York, I think at the end of 2010, and did a competition called IMTA. I didn't do that well in modeling and ended up winning male actor of the year, so a bunch of agencies wanted to sign me, and I ended up moving out to L.A. in 2011.
