Frank Castle: You know you're one bad day away from being me.
Wilson Fisk: I was thinking about a story from the Bible.
FBI Agent #1: Did I tell you to open your mouth?
FBI Agent #2: Let him talk. Don't mean nothin'.
Wilson Fisk: I'm not a religious man, but I've read bits and pieces over the years. Curiosity more than faith. But this one story... There was a man, he was traveling from Jerusalem to
Jericho when he was set upon by men of ill intent. They stripped the traveler of his clothes, they beat him, and they left him bleeding in the dirt. And a priest happened by, saw the traveler, but he moved to the other side of the road and continued on. And then a Levite, a religious functionary, he came to the place, saw the dying traveler, but he too moved to the other side of the road, passed
him by. But then came a man from Samaria, a Samaritan, a good man. He saw the traveler bleeding in the road and he stopped to aid him without thinking of the circumstance or the difficulty it might bring him. The Samaritan tended to the traveler's wounds, applying oil and wine. And he carried him to an inn, gave him all the money he had for the owner to take care of the traveler as the Samaritan,
he continued on his journey. He did this simply because the traveler was his neighbor. He loved his city and all the people in it... I always thought that I was the Samaritan in that story. It's funny, isn't it? How even the best of men can be deceived by their true nature.
FBI Agent #1: What the hell does that mean?
Wilson Fisk: It means that I'm not the Samaritan.
That I'm not the priest, or the Levite. That I am the ill intent who set upon the traveler on a road that he should not have been on.
Matt Murdock: I wanna know how you found me.
Elektra Natchios: I know who you are because I watch the news. "The successful apprehension of Wilson Fisk."
Matt Murdock: I wear a mask.
Elektra Natchios: Well, you can't mask that ass. I'd know it anywhere.
Frank Castle: I gotta say, sometimes... sometimes I think you really just might be the Devil.
Daredevil: Sometimes I think I might be, too.
Wilson Fisk: The city and its future... seeing Hell's Kitchen to its fullest potential is very important to me.
Matt Murdock: I feel the same way.
[Elektra is reading]
Matt Murdock: I was just looking for some honey. Could you help me out?
Elektra: [not looking up] Right in front of you.
Matt Murdock: [chuckles] Well, could you be a little bit more specific?
Elektra: [looking up] What are you...
Matt Murdock: Blind? Yeah.
Matt Murdock: Her name's Elektra Natchios.
Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson: Well, she sounds like a Mexican appetizer.
Matt Murdock: It's Greek, genius. Her father's Nikolas Natchios.
Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson: The billionaire?
Matt Murdock: Yeah, see? Yes, the billionaire.
Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson: Well, then, as your attorney in this matter I advise you to marry the woman immediately.
Matt Murdock: I'll take it under consideration.
Matt Murdock: [Director's Cut version/Narrating] Violence doesn't discriminate. It hits all of us... the rich, the poor, the healthy, the sick. It comes as cold and bracing as a winter breeze off the Hudson. Until it sinks into your bones... leaving you with a chill you can't shake. They say there's not rest for the wicked. But what about the good? The battle of Good vs. Evil is
never-ending... because evil always survives... with the help of evil men. As for Daredevil, well... soon the world will know the truth. That this is a city born of heroes, that one man CAN make a difference.
[Bullseye has used airline peanuts to suffocate an annoying passenger]
Flight Attendant: Can I get you anything before we land?
Bullseye: More peanuts... please.
[Matt sniffs the air and turns his head]
Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson: What? What? Where? Where, where?
Matt Murdock: Front door. Not yet, soon.
[pause]
Matt Murdock: Now.
[Elektra walks in]
Matt Murdock: Tell me.
Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson: You want the truth?
Matt Murdock: Absolutely.
Franklin 'Foggy' Nelson: She's hideous. I don't know if it's a fungus or some sort of congenital birth defect. But, as your attorney in this matter, I advise you to take no further action.
Matt Murdock: Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It's been a week since my last...
Father Everett: What the hell are you playing at, Matt? You didn't come here for forgiveness. You came for permission, and I can't give you that.
Matt Murdock: Justice isn't a sin, Father.
Father Everett: No, but vengeance is.
You see it every day on the street: violence begets more violence. Is that how you want to live your life? A lawyer during the day, and then judge and jury at night? Is that what you want?
Matt Murdock: Somebody has to do something.
Father Everett: But why you?
Matt Murdock: Because I can. Because I'm not afraid.
Father Everett: Well, I'm afraid FOR you, Matthew. Look, a man without fear is a man without hope. May God have mercy on you for your sins and grant you Everlasting Life, Amen.
Father Everett: I'm not too crazy about the outfit, either.
